Away Meet

The City of Leeds Swimming Club usually sends a team of youngsters to the Penarth meet in Cardiff during the summer, however, this has been cancelled due to the club folding.  The Club have found another meet where we can take the swimmers away to compete.  The meet is Fareham Nomads Open Meet in Southampton on the16th and 17th July.

We were thinking of travelling down to Southampton on Friday evening and then returning to Leeds Sunday afternoon as the children will still have school on the Monday so they will swim three of the four sessions.

This competition is targeting all 12 / under swimmers in the Development and the Competition Squads.

Richard has 30 Rooms at the Jurys's Inn Hotel on hold in Southampton. For Dinner, Bed and Breakfast it is £33 per person per night. Two nights staying £66 per person. The hotel is a walk across a park to the pool which is good news!

More information on the event can be found at http://fnsc.wikidot.com/nomadsopenmeetentry

If there is not enough interest from swimmers the trip will not be able to go ahead, so if you do want to go mention it to me or Ryan over the next few sessions and we can give the feedback to Richard and try to get the trip up and running.

Holiday Cover

Island with palm tree I will be taking a short break from the 2nd to the 9th April to go on a surprise family holiday to Gran Canaria. This means my last session with anyone moving up a group will be this Friday. I would just like to take the chance to say good luck in your new groups and train hard for your new coaches like you have done for me and Ryan.  I hope you have all enjoyed your time in C Central, it has been a pleasure coaching you all and helping you along your way to the top.  I will be sad to see you leave but hopefully you will go on to be more successful and achieve your goals.

Whilst I am away there will be 6 new swimmers moving in on Monday 4th April.  Please all work together to set a good example, make the new swimmers feel welcome and introduce them to the C Central team spirit.  Moving groups can be scary as I am sure some of you will be able to remember.

When I return I will be starting in my new post as Assistant High Performance Coach.  My new job is full time hours working as our Head Coach's assistant on Senior National Squad.  I will still be the Lead Coach of C Central, however on the rare occasion my job may require me to be away on courses or at meets with the older swimmers.  In my absence Ryan will make sure the group will run as normal.

I have arranged cover below:

Sun 3rd April - Ryan/Lyn

Mon 4th April – Ryan (Am)

                    - Ryan/ Helen (Pm)

Wed 6th April - Ryan/ Sharron

Thu 7th April – Ryan (Am)

                    - Sue/ Ryan/ Alex (Pm)

 Fri 8th April – Ryan/ Lyn

NSPCC

Hello Everyone!

I am doing a sponsored leg wax for NSPCC, something thats quite important to me. I will be doing this at Matalan Wortley (Lower Wortley Ring Road). I plan to do this at some point within the next two weeks.
I will be getting both legs fully waxed.... Something I am sure you can all laugh at, at swimming when I turn up in shorts in the increasingly warmer weather.

So please if you are willing to sponsor me I would greatly appreciate it, and I will have a sponsor form at training with me over the coming week.

Thanks for your support,

Ryan Mortimer.

If you think you're beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win, but think you can't,
It's almost for sure, you won't.

If you think you're losing, you've lost.
For out in the world we find -
Success begins with a person's will,
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you're outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise.
You have to stay with it,
In order to win the prize.

Life's battles don't always go,
To the one with the better plan.
For more often than not, you will win,
If only you think you can
