WOW!!!

A fantastic week at Harrogate team!.  I think this meet must be the closest C Central has come to achieving 100% PB's in one Gala.

The group managed to deliver 63 PB's out of 64 Swims, 22 more NER times, 12 Speeding Tickets, 15 Gold's, 9 Silvers and 7 Bronze Medals.  A phenomenal effort from everyone.

I thought there was a really big improvement on turn speed and distance under the water off the walls, keep this up during training.   Everyone was in great shape and this was shown especially in the 200m races, you were all managing to to keep your speed up in the back two 50's and not dying off.  Great racing everyone, I was really impressed.

Well Done Everyone!!!!

C Central mascot Jean would like to pass on her congratulations to you all.  Jean got very excited as she stood waving her programme during a number of races over the weekend.  She said she had a fantastic weekend watching you all and she is very proud.  She will be keeping a watchful eye on you all in the lead up to the North Eastern Counties.

A number of items were collected by the coaches at the end of the meet.  Anyone who left anything behind at Harrogate such as club kit, bottles etc can collect it from the Denison suite on Monday night.

Also a big thank you to all the team managers who volunteered to help out over the weekend.  You did an excellent job. Angel

FW: Attendance

Hello Everyone.

Some of you wanted me to put the attendance on the blog from the start of the year so you can see if you are on target.

Below is a reminder for the minimum sessions required each week Dependant upon age.  The training week starts on a Sunday and finishes on the Friday.  If a swimmer is absent and misses a session during the week, they should try and attend an additional session the week after to keep their weekly average where it should be in the table below.

Age
8
9
10
11
12
Sessions
5
5
6
6/7
6/7

This means that when you are 10, you need to be doing at least one morning a week, but we still like to see the younger swimmers experiencing morning training from a young age. Attendance plays a big part in what the senior coaches look at for move ups, as it shows dedication and commitment to the sport.  This is why I cannot stress the importance of reporting absence before the session wherever possible, so we have a reason for the absence.  Our training is based upon the LTAD (long term athlete development), for swimming and therefore if swimmers attend the number of sessions in the table for their age it will give them the best possible chance of succession the future.  We do not want swimmers having to move out of our squad on the basis of attendance only, so please attempt your minimum number of sessions a week.  Please check below to see if you are hitting the expected standards for the squad.

National Qualifying Meet 2012

Those swimmers competing in the National Qualifying Meet at the weekend will just be training for 1 hour on Friday night.  Swimmers are to report to Craig or Paul as I will be doing the Harrogate meet next weekend.  I will be keeping my eye on the results for PB's and hopefully some of you will add another North Eastern time to your list.

Sat & Sun

Arrive: 7:30am
Warm Up: 8:00am
Start: 9:00am

Pm Sessions
Arrive: 12:45pm

Warm Up: 1:15pm
Start: 2:15pm

The warm up this weekend will be a 50 minute mixed warm up.  That does not mean you have to swim for the full 50 minutes.  Do the Race Warm up we practice in training, have a snack, a drink, change your costumes and prepare for your race well.

The draft programme can be viewed by clicking the following link:

Good Luck to everyone who is racing this weekend.  Remember get in the race from the start, don't play catch up later on, less than a second on the turns and accelerate into the finish.

Remember to pick up the effort on every 50m.  If the length feels the same as the one you have swum before you will be slowing down, if you feel like you are putting in more effort on the length then your time will be the same as the length before which is what you want.

Underwater Challenge

Well done to Kit who won a free breakfast by completed the underwater 50m challenge this morning with fins on.

Also well done to Billy who won the underwater challenge last week achieving 44 metres underwater winning himself an Easter Egg.

The 50m underwater challenge is extremely hard but some of you are getting closer and closer each week, I will have to watch my money.  Keep up the good work. Winking smile
