National Qualifier Meet (Regional Performance)

Hi All,

The National Qualifier Meet (22nd-24th April) was not originally in the Regional competition calendar, however we have decided it would be best if we opened it up to Regional Performance Squad.  Those swimmers that meet the qualifying standards can go to this meet.  This will be another opportunity for those swimmers that are close to regional times to go and achieve them.

Entries for this will be taken on Monday 21st March

Become a Technical Official

Find out more about upcoming training for both untrained and trained officials and who to contact.

  • We will be providing yet more technical official training over the coming months, initially for the first stage (J1), but also for anybody who wishes to take the next level J2/J2S training. The initial J1 session takes approximately 2 hours depending on numbers and you can find contact details at the end of this article.
  • Walt Taylor has a copy of the latest USA Officials Training video, which covers all strokes, and we would like to invite all Technical Officials, either qualified and/or in training, to view and discuss. ASA North East used these videos at their last seminar and they are a really useful way to understand the stroke requirements.
  • Finally, a quick reminder that we need to catch-up with those that have started their courses (all levels) to see what we need to do to get their workbooks "signed off" and discuss any issues or problems.

Please could we respectfully request that anybody interested in any of the above, contact Vicki Spencer, David Broome or Walt Taylor at any Club Night. We can then arrange dates, ideally a Club Night, but other days can be considered for those unable to make Monday nights.

Swimming Training Scheme - Swim Hats

Hi All,

To promote the Leeds City Council Swimming Training Scheme (STS) within the facilities we utilise and to set a clear distinction between the Council Training Scheme and the City of Leeds Swimming Club we have purchased Leeds City Council Training Scheme hats for each member for the STS.

Each member of the STS MUST wear the LCC STS hats in training sessions. No other hats are authorised to be worn with in the Council training scheme sessions.

City of Leeds SC hats are to be worn for competitions only.

Every current member of the Swimming Training Scheme will receive four hats each. These will be given out to all squads except National and National Age Group (NAG) on Monday 4th April on the balcony 5.00-7.30pm.

N.B.National & NAG coaches will pass directly to the swimmers.

If hats are split etc and a new one needs to be purchased these will be at a cost of £3 each. Should a new hat need to be purchased, then please go to the Aquatics Centre reception, make the payment then bring the receipt to Sarah Crossley (Training Scheme Coordinator) to exchange for a hat (most likely available to collect on a Monday evening).

If swimmers leave the scheme and they have hats still in their original sealed wrappers then it would be much appreciated if these are handed back.

Many thanks
