Regional Squads Training Changes - October 2023

Hi all,

Please take note of the following changes to training for the Regional Squads during October due to pool bookings and competitions.

Regional Development

Monday 2nd October AM - No AM Training (Recovery)

Saturday 7th October AM - 06:15 - 07:45 (Main pool short course), (Earlier time due to 13 & Over Yorkshire Championships)

City of Leeds Autumn Development Meet Entries

Entries for the Autumn Development Meet held at John Charles on Saturday 11th November are now open for entry online. Entries will close on Monday 9th October.

- This is for swimmers in Regional Development who are not old enough to take part in the Regional Competition Calendar (Anyone under 9 years old, age at 11th November 2023).

- Swimmers should enter ALL events

Sept/ Oct Meet Info & Training Changes

Below are the arrival times for this weekend's competition. We are delighted to be able to have 600 spectator tickets on the door. The tickets will be £10 per day and can be purchased here.

Kids 12 and under go free. Unfortunately, we will not be able to print any programmes to hand out over the day, but please find the draft programme here. Any changes already sent through to Leeds Entries team will not appear on the programme but will be correct for the start sheets on the day.

Just a reminder that it is City of Leeds policy to arrive and check in with Team Manging staff 30 minutes before the warm up. Swimmers must make themselves known to the team manager on arrival at the pool so they can be ticked off on the squad register. Swimmers should also inform the team manager when they leave at the end of the day or if they need to leave poolside during the meet. Team Managers will look after swimmers on poolside throughout each session. During lunch, or if a child leaves poolside during the meet, they are the responsibility of their parent / guardian / a nominated responsible adult.

Could we also ask parents to please ensure their swimmers have suitable footwear on whilst walking around, particularly up and down the balcony steps and especially when wet. It will be another warm weekend at Leeds, so please also ensure your swimmers take on lots of fluids, there are water fountains situated throughout JCCS.

MAK Swimwear will be in attendance this weekend, they will be based in the dance studio. We will also have DE Photo here all weekend too so if you're keen for your swimmer to be photographed, please let them know.

Our supporters committee will also be selling ice pops so bring some change as they're perfect for whilst you're sat in the heat.

Snow Frills Entries

Hi all,

Entries for the Snow Frills Meet held at Ponds Forge Sheffield on Saturday 25th November & Sunday 26th November will close for entry at 21:30 on Sunday 17th September. No late entries will be accepted.

Entries Open to Ages 9+ (Age as at 26th November 2023)

50m all strokes

100m all strokes

200m all strokes

200m IM

Junior League National Final

Any swimmers (aged 9-12, age at 26th November) who are currently ranked in the top 4 for their age group in Freestyle or the top 2 in a form stroke, please be aware you could be selected for the Junior League National Final which clashes with the Sunday of the Snow Frills.

At present we have no information on the National Final, we have tried to chase this up but not had any response yet, we are not 100% sure it will go ahead due to some of the swimming leagues across the UK folding following covid. Fingers crossed the final will go ahead and we can get the information out soon.

If the final goes ahead any swimmer selected for the team will need to prioritise the final over Sheffield Snow Frills. With this in mind if you are in a strong position to be selected for the team then you should only enter the Saturday events of the Snow Frills. Should the final not go ahead and Sheffield Snow Frills still have space, we will ask if they can accommodate any spare lanes with our swimmers.

Swimmers are advised to enter at least 2 -3 races per session.

Remember when planning your races, the aim is to achieve as many Yorkshire or NER Qualifying times as possible. Once you have achieved a Yorkshire or NER qualifying time, you should concentrate on updating times in other events.
