Junior League National Final (Sunday 30th November)

The gala will take place at:
Corby International Pool,
Parkland Gateway,
Corby,
Northampton,
NN17 1QB

Travel
All swimmers will need to arrive at John Charles no later than 8:20 am and check in with Team Managers ready for the coach to depart at 8:45 am sharp. We will be doing a team photo before we depart on the coach, please arrive ready in team kit for the photo.  When we arrive a Corby, we will not be allowed into the building until 12:30 so we strongly advise that children bring a warm/waterproof jacket with them as we could be eating on arrival outside.  Warm-up starts at 12:50 pm with the parade of teams at approximately 13:30 pm. We hope to be back at JCCS for approximately 7:30 pm.  All swimmers are required to travel to and from the competition on the team bus

If your child has a team track suit, they should travel to and from the event in it.  Each swimmer will be provided with a Junior League Final 2025 T Shirt.  This must be worn whilst the event is taking place and for all team photographs.  Junior League Final T Shirts will be handed out on Sunday during the journey down to Corby.  Please also ensure your child has another Leeds t-shirt to wear on the way home.

Obviously, this will be a long day, so the children will need enough food and drinks to last the day. They should not be given all of their food for the day straight away, as they tend to eat too much on the journey down to Corby. Swimmers will not be allowed to leave our teams marshalling area to collect drinks from parents etc during the meet. Therefore, please ensure they are adequately supplied with nutritious snacks and enough hydration on arrival at the pool.

Racing Suits
There will be only 10 minutes to get changed into team kit and be ready in the changing village for the parade.  Due to this swimmer will need to change into their racing suits before the warmup.  Swimmers are advised to keep their hat and goggle on them at all times or zipped up in their bag.  The competition is going to be very fast, and we do not want a team missing their race because of lost hats and goggles.

Swimmers, please remember everything you have practiced.  This will be a very tough competition, every millisecond counts in an event like this so remember shallow dives, kick hard, get up, race hard and don't slow down into finishes.  BE CAREFUL ON THE TAKEOVERS!!!! It is better to go late than early.  We need to grab every point we can, getting disqualified can cause the team to lose 8 points.

Supporters
Parents, please wear team colours!!!  Remember the louder you shout the faster the swimmers will go.  We look forward to seeing you all dressed up in your hats, wigs, face paints etc.  Make as much noise as you can!  We want to see you go all out!  We do not just want the best swimmers on the day, we want the best supporters on the balcony too.  We are all part of the same team, please make sure you get behind every swimmer.

Tattoos
Due to the very tight schedule in Corby on Sunday we ask that all swimmers who want to wear tattoos to please apply them before arriving at John Charles on Sunday morning.  Please see Helen Ellis if you do not already have some shark tattoos.  Helen will be selling shark tattoos during the rest of this week at training for £1 each.

Spectator Tickets
Spectator tickets will be given out by Marc Raven/ Claire Cawood at John Charles on Sunday morning.  Parents who are making their own way to Corby should collect your tickets when you drop your child off at John Charles on Sunday morning.

Car Parking at John Charles
The Aquatics Centre may be closed before we arrive back to Leeds on Sunday evening.  Parents are advised to park in the long stay car park as the gates to the Aquatics car park will be locked once the centre closes.

Medication
Whilst we will have up to date records of your child's emergency contacts and medication on us, please inform the Team Managers (Marc Raven & Claire Cawood) if they need to administer any medication during the journey or competition.

TIMELINE & PROGRAMME FOR THE DAY
I hope you will appreciate that the day will be slightly extended for the presentations.  There is to be no use of photography or video equipment during the gala.  This includes the use of mobile phones and other recording equipment.
Hope you all have a fun and exciting day.

Regional Xmas Party

We've organised a Christmas Party which is open to all swimmers in Regional Development, Regional Performance and National Age Group at the brand new King Pins - White Rose Centre https://kingpins.co.uk/location/leeds-white-rose-centre/ at 5pm on Sunday 21st December.

For a discounted price of £15 per child, we've arranged a game of bowling (with all lanes exclusively reserved for the party) followed by food which will include a selection of pizzas, chicken and fries and will include 1 soft drink or slushie as well. The venue will do their best to accommodate any dietary needs.

Bowling will commence at 5pm so please arrive by 4.45pm and we expect the party to be finished by 7.30pm. Spaces are limited due to the capacity of the bowling lanes so this will be available on a first come first served basis.

We'd love for as many swimmers as possible to attend. To register, please complete the form below which includes details of how to make the payment to Matt Barker (Reuben & Oliver Barker's dad) to reserve your place.

We'll need to allocate bowlers to lanes beforehand. In the form we've requested up to 2 friends' names to be noted so we can try ensure everyone is with at least one friend and we'll also aim to group the lanes by squad.

Please note that whilst we'll try supervise as best we can during the party, we won't be able to take responsibility for children during the party so request an adult with responsibility for a child or children remains at the venue during the party. There is a bar area where you can relax and have a drink.

If you have any questions about the party, please don't hesitate to contact Matt (Matt can be contacted at info@swimsport.co.uk) or me.

Thanks

Sharon

Easy Fundraising

The City of Leeds Swimming Club are always looking for new ways to raise funds to support our swimmers. The Club is registered with Easy Fundraising.

Easyfundraising.org.uk helps charities, schools, sports clubs, community groups, and other good causes to raise money when their supporters shop online. So far, they have raised over £3 million for causes throughout the UK.

It works in a similar way to many other loyalty shopping sites, but instead of earning points when you shop, you raise a donation for City of Leeds Swimming Club instead. It's as simple as that!

I am sure with Christmas fast approaching most of us will be doing our shopping online, so please register with easy fundraising, it really is a very simple way to boost funds for the club.

To register click on the following link

If you have any questions, please see a member of the supporters committee.

Happy Shopping

City of Leeds New Year Meet Entries

Hi all,

Entries for the City of Leeds New Year Meet held at John Charles on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th January are now open online.  This will be open for entry until 21:30 on Monday 17th November.  Entries are not accepted until payment is made, failure to pay before the deadline means your entries will not be processed.

This will be the last opportunity to qualify for the Yorkshire Long Course Championships 2026 before the closing date.

With this in mind we advise swimmers to enter any events you are close to qualifying in.  Swimmers who have achieved Yorkshire times do not need to swim these events at the January Meet as you will be racing them in February, please focus on updating times in other races.  There is limited space available in the 1500m/ 800m Freestyle (swimmers aged 11+, age at 11th January), this will be filled on a first come first serve basis.  Only swimmers who have already achieved a Yorkshire qualifying time in the 400m Freestyle should enter.

Please find a link to the Yorkshire Qualifying times below and also the New Year Meet entry pack.
Yorkshire Qualifying Times 2026 (Age as at 31st December 2026)

*Please note the 9 years Yorkshire times on the City of Leeds notice board are a guide to see if you are on track when you turn 10/11 (Swimmers aged 9 on day cannot enter the Yorkshire LC Championship, swimmers must be aged 10 at 31st December 2026).

Junior League Grand Final 2025

Congratulations,

The swimmers in the link here have been selected to swim for the City of Leeds at the Inter-Junior League Grand Final in Corby on Sunday 30th November.  Please find the team roster attached.   If you have more than one child in the Club, please check the attachment to confirm which child the selection is for.  The team was selected from the Swim England rankings following the recent SE NER Championships.  The selection takes into consideration long course and short course times and results from previous rounds of the Junior League.  Swimmers will not find out the event selection until we arrive at the venue in Corby on the day.

The City of Leeds will be trying to defend their title of Junior League Champions 2024.
As always, the selection is based on the best possible result for the team.  There may be some swimmers who competed in the A Team for the White Rose round that do not make the selection for the final due to the rankings changing position, however any swimmers who contributed to the A Teams qualification into the final will be awarded with a medal and certificate.
The age for ALL swimmers competing at the final is age at 30th November 2025.
Travel
The City of Leeds swimming club will be providing a swimmer's bus for the final.  All selected swimmers will be required to meet at 8:25am, John Charles on Sunday 30th November in club kit and travel to and from Corby as part of the team.  The team bus will be expected to arrive back at John Charles at 7pm (approx).  Swimmers will need to bring a packed lunch and enough snacks and drinks to last throughout the day.
There will be one allocated spectator ticket per swimmer, and then a couple of extra tickets which will go into a draw for those parents wishing to purchase an extra one.  Please state if you are wanting to go in the draw for extra tickets on your confirmation email.  Tickets can be purchased via the City of Leeds online entry system in due course (more information to follow).
The Swimming Club has also been able to secure a Supporter's Bus for the Junior League Grand Final 2025. The cost for a place on the supporter's bus will be £40.00.  This also covers the cost of your spectator's ticket.
Please confirm your place to the Junior League team leader Kevin Schofield at Kevin.Schofield@leeds.gov.uk at your earliest convenience.
Kind regards,
The Regional Team
