Land Training Changes

Hi All,

As from Monday 28th January we will be conducting land training in squads rather than a younger and older age group. Therefore Regional 1 swimmers should attend one week and Regional 2 swimmers the following week.

As a trial for the following weeks we will also be allowing the younger swimmers to have an opportunity to do land training. This will be for a 15 minute period before the start of the session. This time will be used to introduce the exercises to the younger swimmers and teach correct technique and form. The younger swimmers should ensure they are already changed to go in the pool before land training and are just wearing t-shirt and shorts over their costumes as well as wearing suitable trainers.

It is essential that swimmers arrive on time for land training as it is in any pool session, so that everyone can join in the warm up before the session starts. We understand that it can be difficult with traffic and work commitments, however our main priority is the safety of the swimmers and to prevention any injuries, therefore anyone arriving after the warm up will be instructed to do stretches and band work on poolside.

For swimmers aged 11 years and over in each squad, land training will begin at 5.30pm and finish at 6.10pm.

For swimmers aged 9 and 10 in each squad, land training will begin at 6.10pm and finish at 6.25pm.

28/01/2013: Regional 2
04/02/2013: Regional 1
11/02/2013: Regional 2
18/02/2013: Regional 1
25/02/2013: Regional 2
04/03/2013: Regional 1

Thanks

Tom

NER 50m Qualifying Times 2013

Hi All,

I have attached a link on the blog to the new North Eastern Qualifying Times for 2013.  This competition is the biggest in the Regional Age Groups competition calendar where you will race the best swimmers in the North East.  Well done to those swimmers who managed to achieve a qualifying time over the weekend.  There is still quite a while before the closing date so keep working hard and chancing those times.  I am going to print you all a copy so you can see which times you are close to.  In the upcoming meets I advise swimmers to enter races which they are closest to achieving a NER qualifying time in.

The link can be found under Qualification times for future meets on the right hand side of the blog.

Regional 1 will train at the earlier time of 6.30 - 7.30pm rather than 7.00 - 8.30pm.

Sunday 20th January
There will be no training at Armley due to nearly everyone competing in the New Year Meet.

If you are not competing on this day and would like to still train there will be a session available at Kirkstall 1800-1930 with Lyn and Emily.

Yorkshire SA Championships & Yorkshire SA Sprints Championships Entries

Entries for this competition will be taken on Monday 21st January.  The Yorkshire Championships is one of the biggest competitions in the Regional Squads calendar and therefore swimmers should enter all races they have achieved a qualifying time in.  For some swimmers it may look like you have a lot of events to swim when you fill your forms in, however the meet is spread across three weekends so you won't have to swim everything all in one go.

We will be available for signing forms on Friday night after training, over the weekend at the meet and on Monday morning.  We will not be able to sign forms on Monday evening as we will be coaching from 4.30pm on wards.  Please try your best to get your forms to us before Monday night.

Entry forms can be downladed and printed using the link below:

Shop-a-holics Wanted

The Club is holding its first bag packing event of 2013 at Sainsbury's,Colton on February 3rd. The store is open from 11 till 5 and it would be great for everyone to get involved to raise funds for our club.  All money raised will go towards the Junior League, Arena League, Welsh Summer Nationals, Nationals and anything else that may support the swimmers.

Please contact Liz Rogers on 07534467348 or lizhrogers@hotmail.co.uk to register and for more information.

Happy New Year!

Hello Everyone,

Welcome back to training.  Hope you all had a fantastic Xmas and New Year.

We have now started the block of training which will take us through to our next big meet which is the Yorkshires in February.  Entries for this will be taken in the Denison Suite on Monday 21st January.  All Qualifiers should enter as this is one of the biggest meets in the Regional Calendar.

Just a reminder that the club membership/ ASA registration fees are due on the  and must be paid by the end of February at the latest.  Failure to do so will result in the swimmer being removed from the ASA register which will mean having to reapply before they can compete in any swim meets. A re-registration fee of £25-00 will then become payable in addition to full fees.  As a concession once again this year the club are giving an early payment discount for each class of full membership below of £5-00 if the fees are paid before 31st January 2013. In addition anyone holding a current Leeds Card Extra will be entitled to a further 40% discount off club membership fees only, not ASA registration etc. This year for the first time you will have the option of paying by card. There will be no charge for debit cards but a flat fee of £6 will apply to credit card transactions.

Only ASA registered swimmers times will transfer to the ASA database which is used for entry times. Consequently any swimmer failing to apply or renew their ASA registration will not be able to enter meets as entry times will not be available. Also they will have no insurance in force.

As agreed at the AGM, the membership fees have not been increased this year. The ASA registration fees have been increased slightly. In addition we have to pay capitation to NEC and YSA which have also increased slightly. The figures below, which are the due amounts, include all fees and capitation and take into account these increases.

1st child in family £105.00
2nd child in family £  74.00
3rd and further child in family £  59.00

Thanks

Kevin, Tom, Elysha, Josh & Mark
