Hi All,
With the Yorkshire Championships in February and March, the focus going forward for Regional swimmers will be attaining as many NER and Welsh National qualifying times as possible.
There are 3 meets in April which we have identified for Regional Squads to
compete in:
12th & 13th April - Sports Aid (Tom & Kevin)
19th & 20th April - Leeds National Qualifier (Tom)
26th & 27th April - Harrogate Spa Town A/B Graded Meet (Kevin)
Swimmers should be entered into a maximum of 2 of the 3 above competitions in April. It is recommended that anyone that meets the qualifying times for the National Qualifier Meet include it as one of their selected competitions, as it features heat and finals and will be a good experience for NER Champs and Welsh Nationals.
For some swimmers (10 year old boys) the National Qualifier will be the only opportunity in April to swim the 100m events.
Any 9 year olds within Regional Squads will only be able to compete in the Harrogate Spa Town Meet so should enter this meet only.
12th & 13th April - Sports Aid
Events: 50s, 100s & 200s all strokes, 400 FC, 200 & 400 IM (Note: no 100s for 10yrs Boys)

General competition entry advise
When entering events please ensure times that are entered are official times swum in competition and on the British Swimming Rankings. Please do not make up times to meet the qualifying standards for competitions, if a swimmer's times for an event are outdated or a swimmer has never swum an event before please speak to the coaching staff as we will use the standard times formula to work out an entry time.
Personal Best Records are held by British Swimming and are updated after each ASA registered meet. These can be found by entering swimmer surname or ASA number in the following webpage:
http://www.swimmingresults.org/individualbest/
Long course and short course times should also be kept separate where possible. So, long course PB's entered for long course competitions and visa versa. Conversions can be used to meet qualifying times however we discourage the use of converted times as they do not accurately reflect each childs ability to change from LC-SC or SC-LC.
There are a number of websites which convert swimming times for you, one in particular we use is http://www.swimcalc.com/cgi-bin/convert.cgi/default
If you require any further information about the competitions in April please do not hesitate to speak to the coaching staff before or after training sessions.
Thanks
Kevin, Tom, Josh, Scott & Tom B
