Hi All,

I hope you are all excited and looking forward to competing in Blackpool next week.  In preparation for the Junior League Northern Final Kay Jackson will be selling shark tattoos.  Tattoos can be purchased 2 for £1 on Monday 1st October at the top of the balcony.  Kim will also have some tattoos to sell on the morning of the Northern Final.  We advise swimmers apply their tattoos before we depart for Blackpool.

Regional Age Group Start The Season On A High

We were very impressed with the amount of PB's achieved over the weekend and the high level of swimming skills during your races.  Usually this time of year, in early season it is great if swimmers can match their PB's but you guys seem to be smashing them already.  Excellent swimming. 😃

Over the next few weeks please make sure you push yourself on the underwater kicking out of the turns.  Underwater kicking is the 5th swimming stroke and is very important part of the race.  Crack this skill and you will almost guarantee yourself a bunch of PB's and bump yourself up a few places at the next competition.

Overall:
Regional Development achieved 122 PB's out of 156 Swims, 4 Gold Medals, 5 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals, 42 4th - 10th place finishes and 19 more Yorkshire times for 2019.  Good stuff.

Alfie Yo (1), Ethan Co (1), Megan Tr (1), Zac Jo (1)

Silver Medallists (4)
Oscar Sc (2), Asher Ma (1), Dexter Ro (1), Zac Jo (1),

Bronze Medallists (5)
Asher Ma (2), Alfie Yo (1), Ethan Co (1), George Wo (1), Zac Jo (1)

Finishing Top 10 in Yorkshire (14)
Ethan Co (4th, 4th & 8th), Alfie Yo (4th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 7th & 9th), Asher Ma (4th, 6th, 6th, 8th & 9th), Edward Co (4th, 8th & 10th), Oscar Sc (5th & 7th), Dexter Ro (5th, 5th, 5th & 9th), Zac Jo (5th, 7th & 9th), Libby Di (5th, 8th & 8th), Luke Dy (6th, 7th & 7th), Millie Th (6th, 9th, 9th & 10th), George Wo (7th), Oliver Go (7th), Megan Tr (7th & 7th), Oliver Pu (10th)

Yorkshire Long Course Qualifying Times 2019

Hi All,

Below is a link to the Yorkshire Qualifying Times for 2019.  Remember the aim is to qualify for the Yorkshires in as many events as possible before the City of Leeds entry date (Monday 7th January 2018).  Please bare this in mind when entering the upcoming competitions as I know some of you are very close.  Swimmers should then enter ALL EVENTS they have qualified for as the competition is over three weekends.

Please be aware that the last competition in our calendar to qualify for the Yorkshire's before the closing date is the City of Leeds New Year Meet.

Any times achieved Short Course will need to be converted to Long Course using the converter in the link below to see if you have achieved the long course qualifying time.

My Magic Sports Kit

This is a great video for moms and dads, coaches and sports providers to share, a good reminder that children are out there to enjoy sport, have fun and make friends.

Junior League Northern Final - Spectator Tickets

Hi All,

We have now received notification of tickets for the Junior League Northern Final, and a bus for parent transportation has been arranged.

There will be 53 tickets available for the Northern Junior League Final. Each ticket will include a seat on the coach to and from the event in Blackpool and will cost £20.00 per person.

Each child will automatically be reserved 1 ticket per parent at the cost above. Should you require more tickets for additional family members, these will go in to a draw on Monday 1st October.  Kim Mathias will be collecting money in cash only from Monday 17th September.  Please try and get all money to Kim before Friday 28th September.  Please let Kim know upon payment if you would like to go in the draw for any extra tickets.

If you wish to travel by car then this is acceptable however the price of the ticket remains at £20.00. You will not be able to enter the venue until you have received your ticket, which will not be given out until the Athlete's bus arrives at the venue.

You are reminded that if you do take your own vehicle, all athletes must return on the bus with the team. Please note that athletes who return to Leeds with parents in a vehicle may in the future, not be selected for the next round of the competition should the team qualify.

Please ensure you are in Leeds to meet your child following the return journey. If this won't be possible, it will be your responsibility to communicate with the Team Manager or another adult/parent who can care for your child.

The bus will leave John Charles at 10:00am on Sunday 7th October. Please arrive at John Charles for no later than 09:45am. There will be a parade of teams at 13:20.  Warm-up for the swimmers at the event will commence at 13:00, with the event beginning at 2:10pm. We will however be having a team pre pool outside the venue.  Please ensure your child brings a rain coat and appropriate clothing should the weather be unpleasant on the day.  These events usually last 3 hours. Therefore we will expect to leave the venue at about 5:00pm, arriving back in Leeds around 6:45pm.

Please note that all selected team members will be expected to travel to and from the event as part of the team and in City of Leeds Swimming Club kit (Kukri T Shirts).  Parents please also take part and wear the Yellow colours of Leeds.  We don't just want to be the best team in the water but also on the balcony with the best supporters.  You have plenty of time to arrange your face paints, hats, wigs, horns, drums etc.

I recommend that all swimmers eat well before leaving home to arrive for the bus. Then we can top up on arrival in Blackpool with snacks in the form of sandwiches, fruit etc. I also suggest you keep some additional food to give your children after the event as it is quite late when we arrive back. Please moderate the amount of snacks the children have on poolside during the competition but over-indulge the amount they have to drink. All swimmers should have a large drinks bottle on their person at all times and be drinking regularly throughout the meet. A 50/50 balance of juice and pure water is recommended by nutritionists.

Ensure swimmers have a spare hat, goggles, costume, T-shirt (club) and in some cases towels (as things often get wet at these meets).
