SENER Championships (25m) 2023 UPDATE

All,

Entries have now been processed for both Championships.  All entries for the Open Championships have been accepted.

A Draft Programme can be found here

Unfortunately there is a major problem with the level of entries for the Age Group Championships.  We changed the Age Groupings this year to 11-14 years for both Open/Male and Female as a result of pressure from parents of 14 year old Girls. As a result of this we have had a larger entry than previously for the Age Group Championships.

In order to deliver the event within the constraints imposed by Ponds Forge, including the number of swimmers allowed in a Warm Up, we have had to reject some entries. This decision has been made lightly but in the circumstances we have no alternative solution to the problem. In order to accommodate as many swimmers as possible the sessions will still be longer than normal.

We apologies for the distress that we know this will cause. Rejections have been made with regard to times achieved in each Separate Age Group. The Youngest swimmers in each event have not automatically been rejected and may be slower than older swimmers who have been rejected.

A full refund will be made to Clubs for the Rejected Entries.

Spectator Tickets that are no longer required will also be refunded. Contact nerswimmingmanager@asaner.org.uk

This action is taken in compliance with the following condition:

2(b) The Entries Manager has the authority to adjust the number of entries accepted to ensure the smooth running of the Championships, including if a Capacity limit is imposed on the venue.

A list of Rejected Entries can be found here.  A Warm Up Schedule is also available here.

We are still short of volunteers and we particularly need another Announcer. Please contact nerswimmingmanager@asaner.org.uk if you are available to assist.

Regards & Thanks

City of Leeds Xmas Meet Entries

Hi All,

Entries for the City of Leeds Xmas Meet (15th, 16th & 17th December) are now open on the online entry system and will close on Monday 6th November Please remember entries are not accepted until payment is completed.

Try and plan your events wisely so you are not repeating the same events 3 weeks later at the New Year Meet (unless you are using this as a backup should you miss your Yorkshire time at the Xmas Meet).

If you have already qualified for the Yorkshire's or NER's in an event, then we advise focusing on achieving qualifying times in other events.   You will get chance to swim your best events at the Yorkshire Championships in February.

We strongly advise entering the 200m Individual Medley and updating your 50m Freestyle and your best 50m form stroke for selection into the Yorkshire teams in February.

Regional Development
Below is a link to your PB's.  Focus on racing the events you are closest to Yorkshire or NER times in at the December Meet.  All swimmers should enter the 200m IM at either the Christmas or New Year meet.  Swimmers should try to update long course times in as many events as possible over Xmas and New Year competitions.
If you have never swum an event before the Xmas or New Year meet is the perfect opportunity to do this.
Try and plan so you have no more than 2 events per session unless you are swimming a 50 in which case 3 events per session maximum.
Thursday Am swimmers and the swimmers who I have spoken to please enter the 400m Freestyle and 400m IM over the two meets.

Regional Performance
Focus on racing the events you are closest to Yorkshire times or NER's in at the December Meet.  Try and update as many long course times over the 2 meets as possible.  Enter secondary events at the New Year meet.  All swimmers should enter the 200m IM at either the Christmas or New Year meet.
Try and plan so you have no more than 2 events per session unless you are swimming a 50 in which case 3 events per session maximum.
All swimmers should aim to cover the 400m Free and IM over the 2 competitions.
800m & 1500m is available but please speak to Oli before entering.

Here is a link to work out times for events you have never swum before.

Junior League Update

I can now share with you some information around the Grand Final which will be held at Corby International Pool, Northampton on Sunday 26th November.

The City of Leeds will be trying to defend their title of Junior League Champions 2022.

We are now able to confirm the 9 and 10 years selections here.  We are required to submit our team by Monday 6th November; therefore the 11's and 12 years team will be selected from Swim England rankings following the short course NER's in 2 weeks time.  As always, the selection will be based on the best possible result for the team.  There may be some swimmers who competed in the A Team for the White Rose round that do not make the selection for the final due to the rankings changing position, however any swimmers who contributed to the A Teams qualification into the final will be awarded with a medal and certificate.

The age for ALL swimmers competing at the final is age at 26th November 2023.

Travel

The City of Leeds swimming club will be providing a swimmer's bus for the final.  All selected swimmers will be required to meet at 8:25am, John Charles on Sunday 26th November in club kit and travel to and from Corby as part of the team.  The team bus will be expected to arrive back at John Charles at 7pm (approx.).  Swimmers will need to bring a packed lunch and enough snacks and drinks to last throughout the day.

There will be one allocated spectator ticket per swimmer, and then a couple of extra tickets which will go into a draw for those parents wishing to purchase an extra one.  Tickets can be purchased via the City of Leeds online entry system from Friday 10th November (more information to follow).

The Swimming Club has also been able to secure a Supporter's Bus for the Junior League Grand Final 2023. The cost for a place on the supporters bus will be £40.00.  This also covers the cost of your spectator's ticket.

Should you be selected, please confirm your place to the Junior League team leader Kevin Schofield at Kevin.Schofield@leeds.gov.uk at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,

The Regional Team
