Training Cancellarion 13th Oct AM

Dear all parents/guardians/swimmers,

Just a quick message to pass on my apologies for the training cancellation this morning. We were notified lastnight at 10.45pm that the pool was experiencing technical difficulties and the pool would have to be closed until the engineers arrive today. As you can appreciate that time on an evening is not ideal for contacting parents and swimmers and also coaches. Some of the coaches contacted as many parents/swimmers as possible who they had contact numbers for but obviously it is impossible to contact everyone. So apologies if you arrived at the pool this morning to find training was cancelled.

If you are not training at JCCS this evening then training is on as normal.

For those who are training at JCCS, we are hoping to make a call by lunchtime whether training will be on this evening. With the help of squad coaches we will endeavour to contact all parents/swimmers with the outcome.

Once again please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience this morning.

Kind Regards,

Sarah Reed

Training Scheme Coordinator

TRAINING CANCELATION!!!

Sorry it is last minute but I have just had a call from John Charles and there is a few problems with the both the main pool and the diving pit, so morning training will not be on.  I have been a told that the booms are stuck, the plant room is flooded and the pool water level is dropping.  Sounds quite serious.  I will post an update on Thursday afternoon to say if training is back on.  I hope you all get the message in time.

I have used all the numbers on my register to text or ring.  If anyone has got a new number recently please let me know so I can update your details so I can contact you in emergencys.

Thanks

Thank you to all Team managers and Coaches.  The Pre-Comp preparation was exceptional.

Junior League Final

Ellie Jones mum (Emma) would like to organise some hats for the swimmers to wear during the parade.  She can get these for £2 each.  If you are happy to pay this please let her know so she can buy them in time for the final.

Thanks

C Central Storm the Yorkshres

Well what can I say.  You are swimming amazing at the moment and so early on in the season.  I was really impressed with you all over the weekend, it was a long meet and spirits were high all the way to the end. For some of you it will be a last chance to achieve North Eastern times at Harrogate and with some of you so close every session counts, concentrate, work hard and you will hopefully grasp those times.  Remember every millisecond you knock off is a step closer to those qualifying times, work every turn in training like you would in a race so it is perfect on the day.  We are targeting the North Eastern's which are the first week in December, with this at the top of C Central's competition calendar, anyone who has a time must enter even if it is only one event.  You have done the hard work and achieved the times so therefore deserve to swim against the fastest swimmers in the North East.  Lets go show them how its done!

This weekend at the Yorkshire's C Central achieved 103 PB's out of 122 Swims, 15 more NER times, 9 Gold Medals, 5 Silver Medals and 10 Bronze Medals.

StarGold Medallists (5)Star
Liam (4), Jake (2), Ben (1), Euan (1), Ellie (1)

Silver Medallists (4)
Jake (2), Ben (1), Liam (1) Leah (1)

Bronze Medallists (7)
Sophie (3), Harry (1), Leah (2), Jake (1), Matthew (1), Ben (1), Stephen (1)

WELL DONE TEAM!!!!!!! FANTASTIC EFFORT Thumbs up

Volunteers Required

If there are any volunteers interested in team managing on poolside or chaperoning on away trips please let me know and I will pass your details on.  We will be taking a few more helpers on so the team managers we have at the moment can have a break when we are away at a full weekend gala.  Drink and petrol costs will be covered by the club if you volunteer to do a full day at the gala.  There will also be a team managers course on 11th December if anyone is interested.

Junior League Final (27th November)

The gala will take place at:
Corby International Pool,
Parkland Gateway,

Corby,
Northants,
NN17 1QB

All swimmers will need to arrive at John Charles by 8:30am ready for the coach to depart at 9:00am sharp. Warm-up starts at 12:30pm with the parade of teams at approximately 13:30pm. We hope to be back at JCC for 18:30pm.  All swimmers will be required to travel to and from the meet on the team coach.

If your child has a team track suit they should travel to and from the event in it.  Each swimmer will be provided with a t-shirt to mark the event, which must be worn to and from the event and for all team photographs. Please also ensure your child has another t-shirt to wear on poolside.

Obviously this will be a long day, so the children will need enough food and drinks to last the day. Can we also ask that the children are sent with a £1 coin for a locker as last year they were not allowed to bring bags onto pool side.

As there are 8 teams in the final each club has been allocated 45 spectator tickets, we can apply for additional tickets if they are not to be used by other clubs and we will do this if demand requires.  A single spectator ticket has been reserved for each member of the team but must only be taken up if definitely travelling to support. Ticket cost is £4.50.Tickets will be on sale between 6 and 7pm on Monday 24th and 31st October from the Denison Suite.  If you wish to go into the draw for an additional ticket please let us know when you purchase your ticket. Additional tickets will be drawn on Monday 7th November.

The club has looked into the possibility of hiring a Parent's Coach which will travel alongside the Team Coach. Subject to take up, tickets for this will cost approximately £12.00 per seat, assuming that all 45 ticket holders take up this offer. If you wish to travel on the coach please see Greig or Elysha in the Denison suite on Monday when buying your entry ticket. It shall be important to establish as early as possible whether or not putting on a second coach is viable. Your early assistance would be appreciated in this regard.

We have been asked to gain permission for all the swimmers to have their photograph taken at the National Final. If you do not wish for your child to be photographed please let Elysha know when you confirm your child's ability to attend. Please note personal photographs will not be allowed at Corby International Pool.

The Club is also required to provide two timekeepers and 1 judge, who are the ASA Officials list, for the final. If you can help out, free transport will be provided to the event, please let Elysha Wallis or Greig Birrell know.

Land Training

Just to let you all know Helen who takes land training has resigned from the City of Leeds as she has a new job.  We are sorry to see Helen leave as she did a great job with the land training making it fun and enjoyable for you all. We are trying to find a replacement coach for the gym on a Monday night but in the meantime please work hard for whoever covers the session.

Yorkshires & Arena League

Hope you are all looking forward to racing this weekend.  As we are still in early season training the target this weekend is to be as close to your PB's as possible.  Remember work the turns and transitions into strokes, also when sprinting spend less time under the water - get up to the surface fast and race hard, this is where you can pick up seconds.

For most of you it is going to be a long and tiring weekend, therefore training on Friday night will be for an hour just to go over some last minute race tactics.  With nearly 100% of the group competing, training will be cancelled on Sunday night (9th October).

Leeds bring home the Northern Final Trophy for Second Year Running!

Hello,

Well done to everybody who took part in winning the nothern Final today.
It was a fantastic and exciting day, all the swimmers have done the club proud.
Thank you to all the supporters who really got involved and encouraged the swimmers to a fantastic success. A big thank you to Ellie Jones' mum, Emma, for organising the cheerleading. Lets see what she comes up with for the final on the 27th November. Thanks to all other non coaching staff that supported us today.

The results were as follows:

COL - 247
Stockport - 209
Southport - 187
Newcastle - 145
Leicester - 138
Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe - 79

Everyone saw today how close each race was. Every millisecond can be the difference between winning the points.
The final will be tough! So remember, every start, turn and finish should be practiced at race standard, to make all the difference :)

Well done on the first two rounds!

Kevin and Ryan!
