LCC STS - Lockdown 2.0

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Following the Government announcement, it is with deep regret that Active Leeds has to inform you that we will be following the new guidelines and closing all leisure centres and community programmes from Thursday 5th November. In line with the guidelines we will be busy planning to reopen the service on Wednesday 2nd December.

We are just as disappointed as you are with this decision, as we see leisure centres having a key role to play during the pandemic in supporting both mental and physical wellbeing. We are aware of a number of initiatives to canvass the government and to have indoor swimming pools removed from the list of venues which have to close. A further e-mail will follow, with details of how you can help this process, if you would like to.

During the period of lockdown we will work closely with Government and Governing Bodies to ensure that we reopen in a safe and well-coordinated fashion. We have already done the hard work so we hope to open everything as soon as we are allowed too.

What happens next?

You don't have to do anything. We will arrange everything for you.

All services will continue including swimming training sessions until Wednesday 4th November. Your direct debit payments will be automatically suspended from Thursday 5th November. We plan to reinstate memberships from Wednesday 2nd December. This means all direct debit payments will be suspended for one month.

We would encourage you not to cancel your membership or to cancel direct debit instructions with your bank, as this could impact on you when we reopen. We can ensure that you will not be financially penalised during this period of lockdown.

How will our facilities reopen?

We plan to reopen on Wednesday 2nd December in line with Government guidelines, but we're not sure what the situation will be like then. But during lockdown we will be fighting our corner to encourage the swift reopening of leisure centres to provide an opportunity to exercise in support of mental and physical wellbeing. We know leisure centres are COVID secure environments, with all our staff working incredibly hard to allow you to enjoy the facilities and services. Thank you for all your support and kind words during this time as it really has given us lots of motivation.

Obviously, the situation is very unclear at the moment and our plans could well be subject to change. However, you can rest assured that as always, the interests of our customers will be paramount in any decisions we have to make.

As soon as we have any further updates, we will share this with you immediately.

Keep positive and safe, we are always here for you.

Kind regards,
