First leaderboards for Swim England’s virtual Level X Racing have been published

The first leaderboards for Swim England's virtual Level X Racing have been published – with more than 94,000 swims clocked during the inaugural series.

More than 16,200 swimmers from 430 clubs took part in the opening event between 23 October and the end of December.

Swim England launched Level X Racing to give swimmers the opportunity to practice racing skills in their own club environments in the absence of competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All times received during series one have been added to national Level X Rankings and used to generate the leaderboards.

Leaderboards showing the top 10 times for age groups from 11 years upwards, for both male and female, have now been published on the Swim England website.

The top three in each stroke and distance have been emailed with details of how to claim their medal. If you've not received the email and believe you should have, please contact levelx@swimming.org.

George Wood, Swim England sport development director, was thrilled with the response to Level X Racing.

He said: "Congratulations to everyone who has taken part in the first series of Level X Racing – and well done to those who have earned a place on the leaderboards.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response to this virtual event and it was great to see so many swimmers safely taking part and thoroughly enjoying it.

"Hopefully, even more will have the opportunity to participate in the second series when the current national lockdown restrictions are eased and we are finally allowed to get back into the water."

The second series of Level X Racing was scheduled to start on 4 January but has been put on hold due to the latest national lockdown.

Further details on when it will now begin will be issued in due course.

All Swim England category two members will be eligible to take part in the second series of Level X Racing.

Swim England is also developing Level X for artistic swimming, diving and water polo and further information will be released in the coming weeks.
