Happy New Year!!!
The Regional Team Be right back

Happy New Year

Hello Everyone,

We would just like to say a big thank you for all the wonderful Christmas gifts and cards we received from you all.  We hope you all have a great Xmas and are looking forward to coming back to training.

We have now started the block of training which will take us through to our next big meet which is the Yorkshires.  Entries for this will be taken in the Denison Suite on Monday 5th January.  All Qualifiers should enter as this is one of the biggest meets in the Regional Calendar.
Club Membership
Just a reminder that the club membership/ ASA registration fees are due on the 1st January 2015.   Fees can be paid on any club night (17.30 - 19.30) in the timing suite from January 5th onwards.  Due to the ASA system now being electronic fees can be paid up until 16th March at the very latest.  All forms have to be handed into the ASA by the end of March.  Failure to pay by 16t March will result in the swimmer being removed from the ASA register which will mean having to reapply before they can compete in any swim meets.  A re-registration fee of £25.00 will then become payable in addition to full fees.

As a concession once again this year the club are giving an early payment discount for each class of full membership below of £5.00 if the fees are paid before 31st January 2015.  In addition anyone holding a current Leeds Card Extra will be entitled to a further 40% discount off club membership fees only, not ASA registration etc. This year you will have the option of paying by card. There will be no charge for debit cards but a flat fee of £6 will apply to credit card transactions.

Only ASA registered swimmers times will transfer to the ASA database which is used for entry times. Consequently any swimmer failing to apply or renew their ASA registration will not be able to enter meets as entry times will not be available. Also they will have no insurance in force.  It is also a pre-condition of the Swim Training Scheme that swimmers are fully paid up members of the club.

Club fees have not increased this year but ASA registration fees which now include NEC and YSA capitation fees, have increased slightly.  The figures below, which are the due amounts, include all fees and capitation and take into account these increases.

1st child in family £131.00
2nd child in family £ 91.00
3rd and further child in family £ 71.00

Hope you all have a great Xmas, go see you friends and family, play with your toys and have a well deserved break before starting the hard work again in the new year. We hope Santa visits you all.  Make sure you all stay safe and most importantly have fun!

All the best, see you in 2015! Winking smile

"When I go out and race, I'm not trying to beat opponents, I'm trying to beat what I have done ... to beat myself, basically. People find that hard to believe because we've had such a bias to always strive to win things. If you win something and you haven't put everything into it, you haven't actually achieved anything at all. When you've had to work hard for something and you've got the best you can out of yourself on that given day, that's where you get satisfaction from."
Ian Thorpe

"I concentrate on preparing to swim my race and let the other swimmers think about me, not me about them."

Attendance

Hi All,

There were 29 swimmers not attend a morning session last week and 21 swimmers this week.

Most of you attend the required amount of sessions to keep your place within the Regional Squads, however with promotions on the way I would like to remind you all how many sessions, minimum a week you should all be attending.  We appreciate you all have holidays, illness and after school activities now and again, which is fine but when not away swimmers should be attending on average the minimum number of sessions below for their age to give them the best chance of success. These number of sessions follows the Long Term Athlete Development plan for Competitive Swimming.

9 yrs = 5 sessions per week minimum
10 yrs = 6/7 sessions per week minimum
11 yrs = 6/7 sessions per week minimum
11/12 yrs = 6/7 sessions per week (Alternate)

Our squads swimming week starts on a Sunday night and finishes on a Friday night.  If swimmers have competed on a Sunday they will be given their attendance mark for Sunday nights session.  If swimmers are given the morning off after a competition then they will be given a mark if they normally attend this session.  If a session is missed swimmers should try and make it up in the following week by attending an additional work out.
Below is the attendance since the start of the 2014 season to the last week in November so you can all check if you are meeting the correct standards.  (H = Holiday, I = Injured).
