Hi all,

Please take note of the following changes to training for the Regional Squads during May due to pool bookings and competitions.

North Eastern Counties - Weekend 1

This weekend is the first weekend of the big one for those swimmers who have qualified. Let's SMASH IT!!

Remember, use the walls to pick up speed, not loose speed, every millisecond counts. Pick up the effort every 50m and hold your technique when feeling tired.

Just a reminder of the arrival times at John Charles this weekend.

Please make sure you all prepare well and stay hydrated over the weekend; it will be very hot on poolside. Remember your snacks for poolside off the nutrition list.

Like Michael Phelps, you should plan in your head what you are going to do in your race. Visualise your streamlining, kicks off the wall, not breathing last 5m etc and it will happen. Thinking about skills after the race is too late.

Age Group NER's - Draft Programme

Must be purchased in advance of the competition here .

Withdrawals

If a swimmer is not going to swim in a heat, they must inform the Entry Manager of their intention to withdraw no later than 5pm on the Friday Evening for all events on the Saturday and 5pm on Saturday for events on Sunday. Seeded Heat Start lists will be produced. Notifications should be sent to: nerswimmingmanager@asaner.org.uk

Volunteers

We need more offers of help from technical officials for both weekends at Sunderland. We pay 45p per mile for return travel. We also provide a meal for those assisting all day. If you are able to assist us for any of the sessions please send availability to our Divisional Administrator, Linda Tjaguns, email address linda.tjaguns@swimming.org

City of Leeds Summer Meet 2024

Hi all,

Entries for the City of Leeds Summer Meet held at John Charles, Leeds on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd June are now open for online.

Entries will close at 9:30pm on Monday 29^th April. This meet will be age at 23rd June 2024 (Open to ages 9 years +).

Swimmers are advised to enter no more than 2-3 events per session.

At this meet swimmers should update times in events they have not raced for a while or enter events they have not yet tried.

This is a good chance for swimmers in Regional Development to try 400m FS or 400m IM if you have not already done so.

Swimmers highest ranked events or the events you have the most Yorkshire/ NER qualifying times in should be swum at the End of Season Sheffield Meet or the Manchester Non-National Meet.

Swimmers must not have swum faster than the event's upper limit time in the 12 months preceding the gala. Upper time limits can be found in the meet pack below. Those swimmers who have not competed in an event before can use the standard times formula to get an estimated time.

The qualifying times are now out for the Winter Short Course Yorkshires. Swimmers should aim to achieve as many qualifying times as possible before the closing date. The Leeds closing date for entries into this competition will be Monday 23^rd September.

The entries for the NER Age and Open Championships 2024 are due to be paid for this evening by the Club Treasurer. Once this is done entries will appear on the entries checker. Please use the correct link below to check your entries.

Any errors need to be reported to leedsentries@gmail.com by 10:00am on Wednesday 17th April. The official closing time by the NER is 12:00pm on Wednesday 17th April, this will give us chance to make any corrections.
