The cost of the course is £20 and can be booked here: https://www.swimming.org/ios/course/3143. It's a great opportunity for parents / guardians who are unable to spectate at competitions due to Covid restrictions to gain access to poolside!

City of Leeds Swimming Club has agreed to refund the £20.00 for anyone who completes the course and helps out at Leeds Meets.

Swim England North East Region Short Course Championships 2021 – Update

We have recently confirmed that the Swim England North East Regional Swimming Championships (25m) will take place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on the 6th & 7th November 2021. It is our intention to deliver both the Open & Age Group Championships which are normally swum in adjacent 25m pools.  There will still be a capacity limit to comply with at Ponds Forge. This could result in no Spectators being permitted within the Pool Hall area. The Spectator Seating areas may have to be used for swimmers.

Schedules/Qualifying times and conditions are now available on the Regional Website. Leeds entries will close on the 25th October 2021. We will be accepting times from meets Licensed at Levels 1 to 4.

The North East Regional Coaches forum met yesterday (28th Sept). We have decided to make some changes to the original information that was published.

  • The qualifying period is now from the 1st September 2019 until the closing date. (Additional entries may be accepted, after this date, subject to space being available)
  • We have agreed to introduce a Boys 14 yrs age group into the Age Group Championships.

The entry systems have been updated to reflect these changes. We are also inviting Officials to apply to work at the events. The application form can be found here. This is one way to ensure that you are involved in the event in the Pool Hall area.

I would recommend that any bookings made for accommodation at Sheffield are on a refundable basis. The Region will not be held responsible for any costs incurred if one, or both, of the Championships are postponed, cancelled or we have to reject swimmers to comply with capacity restrictions.

All entries must be submitted by Clubs, not individuals

City of Leeds October Meet 2021

Hi All,

Below are the arrival times for this weekend's competition.

Am Sessions
Arrive: 07.40
Warm Up: 08.00
Start: 09.00

Pm Sessions
Arrive: 12.40
Warm Up: 13.00
Start: 14.00

Unfortunately Leeds City Council are still operating under limited capacity in the pool hall at John Charles Aquatics Centre. This is only sufficient to accommodate athletes, coaches, officials and team staff. You are reminded that spectators will not be allowed at this event.

Swimmers can leave the gala after their last race in each session.  Swimmers have the option to stay in the pool hall for lunch or meet parents in the car park.  The cafe will be open for those who wish to purchase any food or drink.  Approximate finish times for each session can be found in the draft programme.

Go out long and strong the first quarter, hold length and build effort on the second quarter, work the 3rd quarter, and switch the legs on more, empty the tank and go as fast as you can on the last quarter.  Try and aim to put a little bit more effort in on each length and don't slow down into the turns.  Remember it is natural to be nervous, If you do get nervous just think what everybody else on the on the blocks must be feeling. Go in pool and enjoy your race.

It's how you prepare months before in the training pool that will determine your performance at the main event.  Your ruthless attendance, quality and consistency of your training will serge you forwards to a result you will be happy with!

Good Luck to everyone competing.

Please take note of this week's training changes due to the competition.

Friday 1st October PM:  19:00 - 20:00 (Just 1 hour)
Saturday 2nd October AM:  NO TRAINING (Squad Competing at Leeds Meet)
Monday 4th October AM:  NO TRAINING (Recovery after Leeds Meet)

SE NER SC Champs 2021 Position Statement

Swim England North East Regional Championships (25m) 2021

We are now in a position to confirm that the Swim England North East Regional Swimming Championships (25m) will take place at Ponds Forge, Sheffield on the 6 th & 7th November 2021.

It is our intention to deliver both the Open & Age Group Championships which are normally swum in adjacent 25m pools.

There will still be a capacity limit to comply with at Ponds Forge. This could result in no Spectators being permitted within the Pool Hall area. The Spectator Seating areas may have to be used for swimmers, as per the recent Festival of Swimming events at Ponds Forge and Sunderland.

Schedules/Qualifying times and conditions are now available on the Regional Website. Entries will close on the 27th October 2021. We will be accepting times from meets Licensed at Levels 1 to 4.

We are also inviting Officials to apply to work at the events. The application form is on the Regional Website. This is one way to ensure that you are involved in the event in the Pool Hall area.

You can be assured that we will publish further details once we have any update from Ponds Forge. I would recommend that any bookings made for accommodation at Sheffield are on a refundable basis. The Region will not be held responsible for any costs incurred if one, or both, of the Championships are postponed, cancelled or we have to reject swimmers to comply with capacity restrictions.

City of Leeds Entries will be taken via the online entry system and will close on Monday 25th October.

Club Shop Open Once Again

The club shop is now open in the Denison Suite, Monday evenings 16:45  18:45.

However, there will be no club shop on Monday 11 October as the AGM will be taking place in the Denison Suite that evening.

Winter Swimming Competitions 2021

Entries have now closed for the Winter Competitions. These are scheduled to take place at the John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds on 9th/10th October (Upper Age Groups) and Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, Sheffield on 23rd/24th October (Lower Age Groups).

All entries have been accepted. The Level of entry for the Leeds event is very high and in order to remain within the capacity set for the John Charles Centre for Sport it will not be possible to have Spectators at this event. Clearly giving as many swimmers as possible the opportunity to compete has to be the priority.

I realise that this will be a disappointment to many Parents/Carers but there I little else we can do in the circumstances.

The level of entries for the Lower Age Group Event at Ponds Forge is considerably less than that submitted for Leeds. The capacity at Ponds Forge is clearly higher than Leeds and we will be having Spectators at Sheffield. We are also able to accept further entries from our Younger Swimmers for this event. The entry system will be going live again to accept further entries from swimmers aged 12 & under. Qualifying standards have been eased.

These can be viewed on the link below.

We welcome offers of help from technical officials at all our events. If you are able to assist us for any of the sessions please contact our Officials Coordinator, email address officialscoordinator@yorkshireswimming.org Clearly this is one way to be involved at the event if you cannot spectate!

Swimming Secretary

Entries will now reopen on the City of Leeds online entry system for any 12 & under swimmers who wish to add on any additional events if they now qualify.

Entries will close at 12:00pm on Wednesday 29th September.

Kind regards,
Leeds Entries Team
