Regional Age Group Storm The Leeds Grand Prix

You are all swimming amazing at the moment and so early on in the season.  We were really impressed with you all over the weekend, especially with the improvement in your turn speed on the wall.  It was a long weekend but you all managed to keep spirits high to the end of the meet.

Well done to those swimmers who achieved North Eastern qualifying times for the first week in December. With this at the top of Regional Age Groups competition calendar, anyone who has a time must enter even if it is only one event.  You have done the hard work and achieved the times so therefore deserve to swim against the fastest swimmers in the North East. Remember every millisecond you knock off is a step closer to those qualifying times, work every turn in training like you would in a race so it is perfect on the day.   Lets go show them how its done!

On Thursday 31st October we will be doing the Halloween Kick set.  We hope to see some really good masks.  For those of you who have not done the Halloween Kick set before it is just a bit of fun where you will perform a hard kick set in the scariest mask you can find.

Snow Frills Entries

Hi All,

As you will know the Snow Frills competition was entered knowing there was every chance we wouldn't be successful due to the competition been oversubscribed. Unfortunately this has partly happened; some entries have been accepted and some haven't. We are awaiting the rejection list back from City of Sheffield so we know which swimmers won't get a swim.

Therefore, what we now propose is, those who do get rejected from Snow Frills we will put the same entries in to the Bradford Meet which is taking place at the Aquatics Centre, JCCS on 23rd/24th November. As you will appreciate there is still no guarantee that Leeds swimmers will get the chance to compete but we will make every effort to get as many in as we possibly can.

Please still make any payments on Monday 14th October for entries which you have submitted and as soon as we know where we are at, the club can issue refunds were necessary (if not accepted in to Bradford Meet etc).

As you can hopefully appreciate it was a huge effort getting these entries sorted and sent at the last minute, and unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the rejections.

If you have any queries then please take these to the Denison Suite on Monday evening where there will be members of committee who may be able to help.

Many thanks

Kevin, Tom S, Josh, Scott & Tom B

Yorkshires, Arena League & Training Changes

Hope you are all looking forward to racing this weekend.  As we are still in early season training the target this weekend is to be as close to your PB's as possible.  Remember work the turns and transitions into strokes.  Smash the underwater work! Try and be first to 15m and then stay in front.  Accelerate into the turns and finishes, the walls are there to help you not slow you down.

Training Changes
Friday 11th October Pm -  Training will be just an hour (18:30 - 19:30) to go over some last minute race tactics.
Sunday 13th October PmWith nearly 100% of both groups competing over the weekend in Sheffield there will be no training on Sunday night.
Monday 14th October Am - Both squads will have the morning off to recover fro a full weekend of racing.

Junior League to Corby ... Again!

City of Leeds Junior League Team (9-12 Yrs) lead from the outset in the Northern Junior League Final this weekend, and relentlessly ruled until the end.

Final Results
1st - City of Leeds = 256
2nd - Stockport = 199
3rd - Southport = 183
4th - Boldmere = 177
5th - Newcastle = 123
6th - Cleethorpes = 96

The team achieved the exact same number of points in last year's Northern FInal, and will now travel to Corby on Sunday 24th November to defend their Grand Final title for a fourth consecutive year.

The team would like to tank those volunteers, but in particular Emma Ferriman for their help on and before the event.

Well Done Everyone!!! Emoji

Junior League - Northern Final

Hi all,

Please ensure you arrive on Sunday morning for 9:40am, in Leeds Kit & have a YELLOW T-Shirt for 9:40am. That is children AND PARENTS alike. (If you want to share in our success then share our colours).

Warm-ups will commence at 10:00am.

Racing will commence at 10:45am.

We will hopefully be done by 12:45pm.

The great news is, training is still 'on' for those that have a Sunday session.

PS. Not only should you be wearing colours but I will expect you to make more noise than the swimmers this time (Harrogate was a little unimpressive and you will need a lot more practice before I take any of you to the Grand Final in Corby). If I'm honest, the attitude amongst parents seems to be one of expectation for us to win but nothing is a given, therefore you need to get behind every Leeds Child more than your own.

Let me remind you…      "A Team Above all… BUT ABOVE ALL… A TEAM"

Good Luck Everyone! Emoji

IMPORTANT - Snow Frills Meet

Hi All,

The Snow Frills meet is filling up fast, so in order for COL to get entries in quickly please would you be able to send your entries across to Sarah Crossley (Sarah.Crossley@leeds.gov.uk) by 12 noon Friday 4th October as Ophelia is on holiday.  Under no circumstances will any entries after this date be accepted.

The payment of the meet will then need to be made as normal on Monday 7th October* or Monday 14th October (*the AGM is on Monday 7th so entries may only be able to be taken up to approx 7 pm).

Please ensure the following is clearly stated on your entry email:

Swimmers Name:

ASA Number:

Date of Birth

Age as at 1st December 2013:

Events & Time

Swimmers are advised to enter all events they have Pb's close to the consideration times in. If you your PB is faster than the consideration time your entry will not be accepted as you are too fast for the meet.  This competition lands on the same weekend as the North Easter Counties (NER).  If you have already achieved an NER Qualifying time then we would like you to enter the NER's rather than the Snow Frills. You may have only achieved 1 or 2 times for NER's but this is the major competition in the regional calendar.

Please ensure that if you are entering your swimmer, that entries are completed and signed off prior to Monday's training.

Information for the Snow Frills Meet can be viewed by clicking the link below;
