Age Group Development Start The Season On A High

We were very impressed with the amount of PB's achieved over the last few weekends and the high level of swimming skills during your races.  Usually this time of year, in early season it is great if swimmers can match their PB's, but you all seem to be dropping big already. Excellent swimming. 😃

Over the next few weeks please make sure you push yourself on the underwater kicking out of the turns.  Underwater kicking is the 5th swimming stroke and is very important part of the race.  Crack this skill and you will almost guarantee yourself a bunch of PB's and bump yourself up a few places at the next competition.

Overall:
Age Group Development 1 achieved 174 PB's out of 221 Swims, 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals, 37 4th-10th place finishes, 20 more Yorkshire times and 3 more NER's for 2027.  Well done.

Junior League Grand Final 2026 - Age 9 & 10 Team Selection

Congratulations,

The swimmers in the link here have been selected to swim for the City of Leeds at the Inter-Junior League Grand Final in Corby on Sunday 29th November.  The team was selected from the Swim England rankings following the recent Yorkshire Championships.  The selection takes into consideration long course and short course times and results from previous rounds of the Junior League.  Swimmers will not find out the event selection until we arrive at the venue in Corby on the day.

The City of Leeds will be trying to defend their title of Junior League Champions 2025.
As always, the selection is based on the best possible result for the team.  There may be some swimmers who competed in the A Team for the White Rose round that do not make the selection for the final due to the rankings changing position, however any swimmers who contributed to the A Teams qualification into the final will be awarded with a medal and certificate.
The age for ALL swimmers competing at the final is age at 29th November 2026.
Travel
The City of Leeds swimming club will be providing a swimmer's bus for the final.  All selected swimmers will be required to meet at 8:25am, John Charles on Sunday 29th November in club kit and travel to and from Corby as part of the team.  The team bus will be expected to arrive back at John Charles at 7pm (approx).  Swimmers will need to bring a packed lunch and enough snacks and drinks to last throughout the day.
There will be one allocated spectator ticket per swimmer, and then a couple of extra tickets which will go into a draw for those parents wishing to purchase an extra one.  Please state if you are wanting to go in the draw for extra tickets on your confirmation email.  Tickets can be purchased via the City of Leeds online entry system in due course (more information to follow).

The Swimming Club is also in the process of securing a Supporter's Bus for the Junior League Grand Final 2026. The cost for a place on the supporter's bus will be £50.00.  This covers the cost of your spectator ticket, travel to and from the venue and a Junior League Final T Shirt for your child.
Please confirm your place to the Junior League team leader Kevin Schofield at Kevin.Schofield@leeds.gov.uk at your earliest convenience.
Kind regards,
Kevin

Yorkshire Championships & Changes to Training

Hope you are all looking forward to racing this weekend.  As we are still in early season training, the target this weekend is to be as close to your PB's as possible whilst holding your skills.  Remember to work the turns and transitions into strokes. Smash the underwater work!  Accelerate into the turns and finishes, remember the walls are there to help you speed up, not slow you down.

Training Changes (Age Group Development 1 & 2)
Age Group Development 2
Friday 16th October PM – Training will be just an hour in the pool (18:15 - 19:15), land as normal
Saturday 17th October AM - No Training (Squad Competing at Yorkshires)
Monday 19th October AM - No AM Training (Recovery)

Age Group Development 1
Friday 16th October PM - Training will be just an hour (18:30 - 19:30).
Saturday 17th October Am - No AM Training (Squad Competing)

Just a reminder that it is City of Leeds policy to arrive and check in with Team Manging staff 30 minutes before the warm up.  Swimmers must make themselves known to the team manager on arrival at the pool so they can be ticked off on the squad register.  Swimmers should also inform the team manager when they leave at the end of the day or if they need to leave poolside during the meet.  Team Managers will look after swimmers on poolside throughout each session.  During lunch, or if a child leaves poolside during the meet, they are the responsibility of their parent / guardian / a nominated responsible adult.
