North Eastern Counties

Here is the first weekend of the big one for those qualifiers in Regional Performance.  Lets SMASH IT!!

Remember use the walls to pick up speed not lose speed, every millisecond counts.  Pick up the effort every 50m and hold your technique when feeling tired.

Just a reminder of the arrival times at Sunderland this weekend.

Am Sessions (Heats)
Arrive: 07:30
Warm Up: 08:00
Start: 09:00

The draft programme can be viewed by clicking the link below;

Training Changes (For those swimmers competing this weekend)

Friday 19th May Pm = 19:00 - 20:00 (Just 1 hour)

Monday 22nd May Am = Off (Only if you have competed over the weekend)

Training will be as normal for those swimmers not competing.

Please make sure you all prepare well and stay hydrated over the weekend, it will be very hot on poolside.  Remember your snacks for poolside off the nutrition list.

"Before the (Olympic) trials I was doing a lot of relaxing exercises and visualisation.  And I think that that helped me to get a feel of what It was gonna be like when I got there.  I knew that I had done everything that I could to get ready for that meet, both physically and mentally".  (Michael phelps, 6 Gold Medals, 2004 Olympic Games)

Like Michael Phelps, you should plan in your head what you are going to do in your race.  Visualise your streamlining, kicks off the wall, not breathing last 5m etc and it will happen.  Thinking about it after the race is too late.

Training will be as normal for anyone not competing.

Best of luck to you all Winking smile

Welsh Summer Championships 2017

Hi All,

Thank you to everyone that attended the information evening on Monday.  Those of you that couldn't make it I have have sent out all the information and handouts by email.  Included is the Welsh Summer Nationals Meet pack, meet schedule and also the qualifying times.

Once again this trip has been generously subsidised by the City of Leeds Swimming Club, which has kept the cost of this year's logistics and catering for Welsh Summer Championships at £380.00 (not including entry fees). This includes, transportation, over-night stays and food (on arrival).

A deposit of £110.00 is due no later than Monday 5th June. Final Payments will be taken no later than Monday 11th July. (If you wish to pay in full this is more than acceptable).

So we can be organised well in advance of the trip please put the dates below in your diaries;

• Friday 9th June at 9am – Online Entries
• Monday 5th June - Last day for deposits, code of conduct forms, medical forms, lunch forms, T shirt sizes to Kim Mathias or Jo Yeomans
• Monday 10th July - Last day for final payments Kim Mathias or Jo Yeomans

The Open Meet entry system will open Wednesday 9th June at 9:00am. This entry system is an online system. Swimmers (Parents) must enter themselves. The meet is held over 7 days so we advise swimmers to enter ALL events that they qualify in. As this is always a particularly busy meet, we cannot stress how important it is that entries are made as soon as it opens on Friday at 9:00am.

Below is a link to the Swim Wales Open Meet 2017 web page and also the meet information;

A copy of the City of Leeds Swimming Club Welsh Summer Nationals Policy can be viewed by clicking the link, this must be adhered to by all swimmers whilst attending the meet,

Forthcoming Squad Promotions (May 2017)

Hi All,

Due to additional spaces becoming available further up the scheme, we now find ourselves in a position where we can make a small number of promotions. These promotions will be offered to those individuals in due course.

Please also note that these promotions will not affect our plans to promote additional individuals in July/August. If your child is not selected for promotion on this occasion, it does not mean that they will not be considered for promotion in July/August. Assessments for Summer Promotions are currently ongoing and will be communicated in Early/Mid July.

Welsh Summer Nationals 2017

Hi All,

Thank you to those swimmers who have registered their interest in the Welsh Summer Nationals 2017.  The Meet entries are closing in on us. The qualifying times look generous which means we should be taking quite a large team of swimmers.

There is an open online entry system with restricted Heats (meaning a certain amount of time has been allotted for each event), on a first come first serve basis. Entry for ASA registered members will be open as of Friday 9th June at 9am. All entries will close Friday 23rd June at 1pm.

You will be able to enter online, at the time and date outlined above. As the event is first come first serve, it will be particularly important for you to submit entries as soon as the online entry system opens.

Note: Only times swam as of 1st August 2016 will be accepted.

The Coaching Team will be holding an internal meeting very shortly, after which we will organise and deliver a presentation with more information, hopefully next week.

For now the links below maybe useful to have;

Competition Changes

Hi All,

Unfortunately it was announced yesterday that the Rotherham Meet was full and no more entries will be accepted.  It is becoming increasingly busy at this time of year for competing and therefore the entries team will plan to take entries even further in advance in the future.

As a result of Rotherham closing their entries early we will be taking entries tonight for the Chesterfield Meet on the same weekend as Rotherham (15th & 16th July).  We have had confirmation that the meet is 3/4 full so we will need to send off the entries ASAP to ensure we get in.  So we can sent the entries off tonight please use the Rotherham entry forms you already have signed if you would like to compete at this meet.  The only change to the programme of events is that there is no 400m IM.  We advise that if you entered to 400m IM to swap and race this at the City of Leeds Summer Meet.

Please find the link below for the Chesterfield Summer Splash
Entries for Chesterfield are £5.00 (please adjust on Rotherham entry form from £5.50).

50m, 100m, 200m all strokes + 400m Freestyle
Age as on 16th July 2017

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Kind Regards

Revised Scheduling of Swim England North East Regional Championships 2017

Due to the unavailability of the pool at the John Charles Centre for Sport, Leeds, on the 6th and 7th May 2017, the following Swimming schedule at the Sunderland Aquatics Centre will be adopted to ensure that all swimmers have the opportunity to compete at the Regional Championships.

Please click the link below to see the revised programme of events;

During the championships, due to limited space around poolside, we would appreciate your cooperation by ensuring that only those swimmers who are competing in the session that is running are actually on poolside.

While we know the solution to run the championships in this way will not be the best for everyone, the volunteers who work hard to make the events happen have done a great job in pulling an alternative together so quickly.

Upcoming Competition Entries
