Regional Squad Land Training Changes

Hi All,

Please take note of the following changes to training over the Easter weekend.

Friday 2nd April – No Land Training Zoom (Good Friday)

Monday 5th April – No Facebook Workout (Easter Monday)

Enjoy your long weekend off over Easter 😁

So that the squad do not miss out on a Zoom workout next week we have rearranged the Good Friday Zoom session with David to take place on Monday 29th March.

The Zoom session details were included in the email sent out.

As usual the waiting room will be open 15 minutes before the start so we can hopefully have a prompt start at 5:30pm.  Please use this 15-minute log in period to check your screen name is set so the coaches can take the register, and that your camera is on and working so David can give you any feedback.

Please remember to come with a drink to hand ready for the workout.

Please can swimmers ensure that they have a working camera for Monday's session and the camera stays on for the full duration of the call.  Due to safeguarding issues, we must be able to see the swimmer on each camera.  Swimmers who fail to have their camera on at the start of the workout will be removed from the call.

We look forward to seeing you online.

Regional Swimming Championships (50m) 2021 - Update

Swimmers and Parents/Carers will realise that it would not be possible to deliver the Regional Swimming Championships in April/May 2021 with the current social distancing rules are in place.

The indications are that the current social distancing restrictions will not be relaxed by HM Government for some time.
Although age group swimmers could be allowed to return to the pool on 12th April (not confirmed until 5th April) senior swimmers will not be returning until after the Championships would have taken place.

Clearly most age group swimmers would not be fit enough to compete in a Regional Championships two weeks after returning to the pool.

The Swim England Swimming Leadership Group are working on plans to enable competitive swimming to return as soon as conditions allow. We will keep you updated on progress.

We hope that it may be possible to hold our Regional Championships (25m) in November 2021 as planned.
I realise that this will be a disappointment to many swimmers, but the safety of our members must take priority over all other considerations.

Free Team Manager 2 Course

There is a 'great opportunity' for Swim England team managers to build on the skills learned in the previous lockdowns with another free online course.

The workshops aim to further enhance the knowledge gained when completing the Team Manager 1 courses held in 2020 – putting clubs in a better place ahead of events and competitions returning.

The Team Manager 2 courses are appropriate for all those who are working with a team or club in camps and competitions, both domestically and internationally.

They cover all aquatic disciplines and will again be delivered via Zoom on two dates in February and one in March.

The requirements in order to take part in the course are:

  • Must hold a Swim England membership
  • Must have an in date DBS check on membership record
  • Must have an approved safeguarding certificate on membership record
  • Must have completed the Team Manager 1 course
  • Must identify as a team manager on the Club Personnel Report
  • Must be 18 or older.

Build on success

Claire Coleman, Swim England Head of Development, said: "We are excited to start running the Team Manager 2 courses and build on from the success of the Team Manager 1 courses.

"This additional training will help to ensure clubs are ready to go once we are back in the water again.

"For those team managers who are wanting to take advantage of this great opportunity but can't make the current available dates, please make sure that you register your interest."

A maximum of 25 places are available for each course.

If the dates above are fully booked, or you are unable to attend on those dates, you can pre-register your interest.

First leaderboards for Swim England’s virtual Level X Racing have been published

The first leaderboards for Swim England's virtual Level X Racing have been published – with more than 94,000 swims clocked during the inaugural series.

More than 16,200 swimmers from 430 clubs took part in the opening event between 23 October and the end of December.

Swim England launched Level X Racing to give swimmers the opportunity to practice racing skills in their own club environments in the absence of competitions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

All times received during series one have been added to national Level X Rankings and used to generate the leaderboards.

Leaderboards showing the top 10 times for age groups from 11 years upwards, for both male and female, have now been published on the Swim England website.

Links to the leaderboards

Age Groups & Masters Leaderboards

The top three in each stroke and distance have been emailed with details of how to claim their medal. If you've not received the email and believe you should have, please contact levelx@swimming.org.

George Wood, Swim England sport development director, was thrilled with the response to Level X Racing.

He said: "Congratulations to everyone who has taken part in the first series of Level X Racing – and well done to those who have earned a place on the leaderboards.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response to this virtual event and it was great to see so many swimmers safely taking part and thoroughly enjoying it.

"Hopefully, even more will have the opportunity to participate in the second series when the current national lockdown restrictions are eased and we are finally allowed to get back into the water."

The second series of Level X Racing was scheduled to start on 4 January but has been put on hold due to the latest national lockdown.

Further details on when it will now begin will be issued in due course.

All Swim England category two members will be eligible to take part in the second series of Level X Racing.

Swim England is also developing Level X for artistic swimming, diving and water polo and further information will be released in the coming weeks.

Swim England Fees 2021

Hi All,

Just to let you know that Swim England Fees for 2021 are now due.

The committee have decided that we will not be collecting any club fees this year, but Swim England fees are still due.

This simplifies matters in that there are only two categories for swimmers to fall into.

-          Category 1 fees (for swimmers aged 8 and under) will be £14.70.

-          Category 2 fees (for all other swimmers) will be £33.25.

If your swimmer is likely to turn 9 in the first couple of months of 2021 please renew them as category 2.

On your swimmer's online profile page please check that your child is entered for the correct SE Category.  If this need changing click edit, this can then be changed between category 1 & 2, then click save.

If you have any problems, please email kevin.schofield@leeds.gov.uk and he can change it manually before you make payment.

We have a new online system this year to enable remote payment.  You should now have received an email from Kevin with a link to log into your account.

The system will accept only card payments, either debit card or credit card. John Clayton (Membership Secretary) will be able to see when a payment has been made, at which point he will renew your swimmer's registration.

Annual Swim England fees can now be paid by logging into your online City of Leeds online accounts.

Please log in using the link below and follow the instructions.

City of Leeds Log In
