I have just had a message from Helen who takes land training. She was attacked by a dog Saturday on her arm and is still receiving treatment for the injury in hospital. Unfortunately there will be no Land training tonight.  Sorry for the short notice.

Junior League Northern Final Supporters

For those parents travelling to the Northern Final next Sunday it would be great to see you all join in the fun and dress in Leeds colours, not only does it motivate the swimmers but also makes us stand out as a Club.  It would be great to go to the final with the best swimmers and the best supporters behind the team.  Some of the other clubs will be dressing up.  Get planning now! There is plenty of time to come up with some chants for our team.  I want to see drums, dressing up, banners, flags, tambourines, horns, wigs and face paints.  The more noise you make the faster the swimmers will swim.

Emma (Ellie Jones Mum) is buying some yellow and blue cowboy hats for the final.  If you would like to purchace one for the small charge of £2 let her know ASAP.

Video Feedback

Over the past week I have used a camera to film some of the swimmers technical faults and play it back to them on poolside.  I think it is a great tool to use as the swimmers can visualise what they are doing wrong in the water and see how they need to correct their technique.  I am going to carry on using the video now and again during training sessions and may include some of the footage on my Level 3 Coaches course.  If anyone does not want the camera to be used with their child please send me an email.

    Wales Trip & New Season

Well done to everyone who attended the Wales meet.  The trip was a brilliant success with lots of fast swimming and a great experience for the swimmers who's first time it was away from home by themselves.  Our group achieved 55 PB's out of 69 Swims, 4 Finalists and 3 Bronze Medals over the week.  Lizzie Coombes took lots of pictures of the team in Wales and hopefully we should be able to upload some onto the blog soon.

Hope you are all having a fantastic break.  Just a reminder below when training restarts.

    Breakfast Club & Turn Practice

Hope you are all looking forward to the Summer Break or Wales.  This Thursday is the last morning training for C Central until Thursday 8th September.  It would be good if we can get as many swimmers to attend as possible and have a team Breakfast after the session before we break up for the Summer.

The pool will be free before our session starts on Wednesday and Thursday this week as the older swimmers are away at the Nationals in Sheffield.  Any swimmers who wish to come in and practice turns from half an hour before our session starts are welcome to do so.

    1500m Time Trial

Don't worry too much about the times it was more of a mental test to achieve 1500m without stopping, even though surprisingly some of you achieved a North Eastern time in training which is excellent.  In C Central swimmers normally cover between 1500 - 4500 metres per session, but to swim 1500 metres without breaks is a test of fitness, mental concentration, gets swimmers to focus on keeping going when their bodies are finding the event tough and helps swimmers overcome the fear of swimming longer distances in races.  Well done to everyone who finished the 1500m.  There are also some 1500m times below from previous time trials and there is a huge improvement showing that you are all fitter, and stronger.  We will attempt the 1500m again in the year.

    Chocolate Bar Challenge
Well Done to Zoe who won the Chocolate Bar Challenge on Friday night.  This is a test of turn speed where swimmers push off the wall turn at the flags, sprint to the wall, turn and sprint back to the flags.  The fastest swimmer wins a chocolate bar.  It was a very close final but Zoe just managed to scrape top place.

    Keep chasing those times!!!
